The Institute for Public Leadership (IPL) is delighted to announce the recipients of seed funding designed to support innovative research projects that contribute to the scholarly advancement of public leadership. These grants are awarded to research proposals addressing critical questions relevant to public leadership in various contexts, with a particular emphasis on applied public leadership within the state of Maryland.
IPL welcomed proposals from faculty across the School of Public Policy, regardless of their area of scholarly expertise. The primary objective of this program is to foster the development of research ideas with the potential to significantly enhance both the research and practice of public leadership, ultimately attracting external research support.
Cullen Merritt, associate professor and research director of IPL, remarked, "We are excited to support faculty research that will elevate public leadership in Maryland and beyond. These projects will be competitive for external funding and position leaders to advance the public good. As our inaugural recipients, these grants set the standard for the innovative research IPL is enthusiastic about supporting."

- Luke Spreen: "Wage Discrimination in Public Sector Workforces: Evidence from U.S. States"
- Joannie Tremblay-Boire: "Is the public really clueless? Testing public knowledge about nonprofits"
